MTN Dismisses Davido, Don Jazzy, Iyanya, Others as Brand Ambassadors
Foremost Telecoms service provider – MTN has dismissed a number of its celebrity brand ambassadors.
The company will not be renewing the contracts of the likes of like Don Jazzy, Sound Sultan, Davido and others, who have been associated with the brand for a while now.
MTN sponsored Project Fame alums; Iyanya, Praiz and Chidinma did not get the axe and will remain music ambassadors of the telecoms giant alongside Falz, Tekno Miles, and Skales.
Other ambassadors include – Saka, Nedu, Nkem Owoh and Adamu Zango.
In a statement to this effect, the company said,
“In line with its commitment to supporting Nigerian musicians by providing alternative platforms through which they can receive lucrative value for their intellectual property, MTN has announced brand ambassadors for 2016-2017.
“This is designed to enable the company continue to support the development of the entertainment industry by financially empowering Nigerian artistes and musicians through the promotion and monetisation of content on its various digital platforms – MTN Music+, Caller Ring Back Tunes (CRBT) and Value Added Services (VAS).”
Speaking further, MTN Executive, Amina Oyagbola, also thanked the former ambassadors for a job well done.
“MTN remains proud to be associated with the growth and development of the careers of all our ambassadors, past and present. We specially thank all our former ambassadors for their immense contributions to building our brand and making us the network of choice in Nigeria.”
MTN’s General Manager Consumer Marketing, Richard Iweanoge, reiterated that the company would continue its support in the development of the entertainment industry.
He added that there will be a renewed focus on building MTN’s digital platforms.
