NAF, NCAA Deepen Collaboration To Strengthen Safety Standards and Operational Excellence

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing safety standards across its operations with a strategic visit to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on 19 November 2025. A delegation from the NAF Bureau of Standards and Evaluations, led by Air Commodore BO Amuneni, the Director of Safety (DOSAF), undertook the visit at the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as part of ongoing efforts to secure accreditation for the NAF Institute of Safety (NAFIS). During a productive meeting chaired by Mr Horatius Egua, Director of Special Duties at the NCAA, both organisations deliberated on the specific requirements NAFIS must meet to obtain licensing, marking a significant step toward aligning NAF safety training with national aviation standards.

This collaboration underscores the NAF’s unwavering priority of embedding a robust safety culture in all facets of its operations, particularly as it intensifies airpower employment in the fight against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements across the country. The accreditation of NAFIS is expected to further strengthen the capacity of NAF personnel by equipping them with advanced safety competencies that ensure mission effectiveness while safeguarding the lives of aircrew, ground personnel, and the citizens they protect. By harmonising military and civil aviation safety standards, the NAF and NCAA are fostering a partnership that not only advances national security objectives but also reinforces Nigeria’s broader commitment to global best practices in aviation safety.
