NAOWA Treats Children To Christmas Party In Port Harcourt Barracks

The atmosphere in Port Harcourt Barracks was filled with the aura of celebration and love, when children in Port Harcourt Barracks were treated to a Christmas party by the Chairperson Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), 6 Division Chapter, Mrs Maryam Abdussalam. The occasion which took place on the boxing day, 26 December, 2024 at 29 Battalion Parade Ground, brought lots of fun to the children of personnel and civilians in the Barracks Community.

The Christmas Children’s party was part of social activities for the yuletide season, which was aimed at promoting moral standards, show of love, relaxation and welfare among troops and families. It was a clear demonstration of the NAOWA commitment to the welfare and recreation of troops families. It also highlighted the army’s efforts to promoting Civil-Military relations, as well as building bridges within the Barracks Community.

The event attracted over 1500 children. The kids were treated to a fun-filled day of games, entertainment, and gift-giving a symbol of love. As the party got underway, the children were treated to a variety of activities, including games, bouncing castles, and a photo booth. They also enjoyed a sumptuous feast of food and drinks, courtesy of NAOWA 6 Division Chapter.

The Chairperson thank the organizers of the party for their hardwork and dedication. Mrs Abdussalam commended NAOWA and NASWA members for their dedication to families within the barracks. She urged parents and caregivers to promote peace, discipline and unity.

She also commended the children for their good behavior and urged them to continue to make their parents and the Nigerian Army proud.

Also in appreciation, the Deputy Chairperson NAOWA 6 Division Chapter, Mrs Salaha Ahmed thanked the Chairperson NAOWA 6 Division for her unwavering support and show of love to the Barracks community.

Mrs Ahmed noted, “This party has brought so much joy to our children. We are grateful to the Organisers for organizing this colourful event. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the festive season.”

Mrs Ahmed urged the Children to always embrace the values of unity, patriotism and excellence. She further called on them never to stop dreaming, learning and striving for greatness.

Highlights of the event were Cultural dance performances, games and presentation of gifts.

Relatedly, NAOWA 6 Division Chapter, on 28 December 2024 Organised a Movie Night for the Barracks community in continuation of the yuletide season.
