Nasarawa gov sacks commissioners, political appointees

NASARAWA State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has sacked all the members of the State Executive Council.

The sacking was announced by the governor at the end of an expanded Exco meeting at the Government House on Monday, in Lafia.

Shortly after announcing the sack, Sule expressed gratitude to all the political appointees for their sacrifices towards ensuring the delivery of his campaign promises to the people of the state over the last two years.

He subsequently directed all Special Advisers, Special Assistants and Senior Special Assistants, to vacate their offices.

Although no reason was given for the sack, a government source who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution said “We all know that most of the political appointees in this state were recommended by past governors of the state.

“So, I believe that he is sacking them to bring his foot soldiers into the political system before the commencement of the local government elections on October 6 and the governorship election in 2023 because he has been getting endorsement across the state to continue as governor.”
