Nick Minaj’s Brother Indicted for Raping 12-Year-Old Girl, Faces 15 Years or More in Prison

Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jaleni Maraj, has been formally charged with felony predatory assault by a grand jury for raping a 12-year-old girl.

Yesterday, Jelani appeared at the sex crimes division of Nassau County Court for his arraignment, accompanied by his high-powered lawyers Benjamin Brafman and Andrea Zellan. Jaleni was arrested last year December for the alleged crime and was released the same day on a $100,000 bail paid by his rapper sister, Nicki, who reportedly put up her two homes in New York as collateral for the bond.

According to reports, the 12-year-old girl in question is Jelani’s step-daughter and he was said to have been raping the young girl for several months with the last rape occurring one day before his arrest. Jelani got married to the alleged victim’s mother, Jaqueline last year August and she also has an eight-year-old son. Their wedding was said to have been bankrolled by Nicki Minaj.

The grand jury had been deliberating the accusations made against Maraj for about a month before making the decision to indict him on April 4. The indictment means Maraj has officially been charged with felony predatory assault against a child, felony sexual conduct against a child under age 13, sexual conduct against a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. If he is convicted solely on the charge of felony predatory assault against a child, Maraj will face upwards of 15 years in prison.

When questioned about the indictment, Maraj’s lawyer had this to say: “We’re not commenting on the Maraj case, ok?”
