Nigeria Too Poor For The World Cup – Solomon Dalung

Despite the impressive performances of the Super Eagles in their last two 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying games which they won against Zambia and Algeria leading CAF qualifying Group B with maximum 6 points, it has now been stated that Nigeria might not be going to the next World Cup if they eventually qualify for the tournament.

In a statement credited to the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung asserted that he is against the country’s participation at the World Cup competition.

Dalung said that the World Cup competition is stinks of corruption stressing that Nigeria is too poor to be wasting money going for the tournament.

The minister said there is no need for the Super Eagles to participate in the next World Cup claiming that Nigeria would never win the trophy.

Dalung added that the country’s focus should be on playing at the African Nations Cup, Olympics games and the Common wealth games.

But the Super Eagles won’t take part at the next African Nations Cup in January 2017 in Gabon, and qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup is all what Nigeria football fans are clamoring for.

Many pundits have however been left stunned with the statement of the Sports Minister as many have queried his rationale for him to have supported the Super Eagles in their last World Cup qualifying game against Algeria since he knew there would not be any need for Nigeria to participate in the tournaments.
