Nigeria, UK Reaffirm Strategic Security Partnership At Fourth Security and Defence Dialogue

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, joined the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, heads of security and intelligence agencies, alongside senior Nigerian and United Kingdom officials at the Fourth Nigeria–UK Security and Defence Partnership (SDP4) Dialogue held at the Office of the National Security Adviser, Abuja, from 22–24 June 2026. The high-level dialogue, led by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, with reflections from the United Kingdom National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell, reaffirmed the enduring strategic partnership between both nations in addressing contemporary security challenges.

Discussions focused on strengthening practical cooperation in defence, counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, cyber security, hybrid threat response and institutional capacity building, while reinforcing a whole-of-government approach to national and regional security. The engagement further underscored the shared commitment of Nigeria and the United Kingdom to enhancing resilience, promoting regional stability and advancing sustainable peace through trusted collaboration and mutually beneficial security partnerships.
