Nigerian Air Force Boosts Special Forces Capability, Graduate 111 Operators To Enhance National Security

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has graduated 111 personnel from Special Forces Course 13/2026, marking another significant milestone in its commitment to building a highly skilled, combat-ready and mission-oriented force capable of responding effectively to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. The graduation ceremony, held at the Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA), Bauchi, celebrated the successful completion of an intensive training programme designed to equip the operators with the specialist knowledge, tactical skills and resilience required for complex Special Forces missions in support of air and joint military operations. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, was represented at the event by the Chief of Training, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal AY Dari.

In his message to the graduating operators, the CAS congratulated them on successfully completing one of the NAF’s most demanding training programmes and charged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and courage. He reminded them that the true strength of any fighting force lies in the quality, determination and character of its personnel, urging them to remain mission-focused and serve the nation with honour. Earlier, the Commandant of RTCA Bauchi, Squadron Leader EL Akpan, reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to producing competent, resilient and mission-ready Special Forces operators. The ceremony also featured impressive tactical demonstrations, including obstacle crossing drills, commando self-defence techniques and air assault operations, highlighting the graduates’ operational competence, teamwork and fighting spirit.

The ceremony was attended by the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal AG Kehinde; the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal A Idris, represented by the Commander 251 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Y Bashir; the Director of Regiment, Air Commodore Olayera, alongside senior military officers, representatives of sister services, other security agencies and invited guests. The graduation reinforces the Nigerian Air Force’s sustained investment in human capacity development and operational excellence, underscoring its resolve to build a professional, agile and combat-ready force capable of delivering decisive air power effects in synergy with surface forces to safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty and advance national security objectives.
