Nigerian Air Force Deepens Civil-Military Ties, Commissions Quick Impact Project In Kano

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinforced its commitment to civil–military relations with the commissioning of a block of four duplex classrooms at Gwagwarwa Community in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, under its Special Intervention Quick Impact Project. The project, commissioned on 29 January 2026, reflects the vision and leadership of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, towards community development and the provision of critical social infrastructure, particularly in support of grassroots education.

Speaking at the event, the CAS, represented by the Chief of Civil–Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, said the initiative was conceived to promote early educational development by providing a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils. He noted that quality education remains a powerful tool in the fight against illiteracy and poverty, adding that the project underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s people-centred approach to national security. Air Vice Marshal Gabkwet commended the project facilitator, retired Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Usman, for his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and sustained service to the nation. He described the project as a clear reflection of the facilitator’s passion for education and community development, stressing that the newly commissioned classrooms would significantly enhance teaching and learning outcomes in the school.

In his remarks, the project facilitator, Air Vice Marshal SK Usman (Rtd), said the Quick Impact Project provides the Nigerian Air Force with a platform to give back to society and contribute meaningfully to national development beyond its core military responsibilities. He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence, mutual trust, and cooperation with host communities, noting that such initiatives help bridge the gap between the Armed Forces and civil society. He therefore urged the Gwagwarwa community and school authorities to take full ownership of the facility by ensuring its proper utilisation and maintenance to guarantee long-term sustainability and continued benefit to future generations.
