Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy Optometrists Strengthen Global Eyecare Partnerships

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and Nigerian Navy (NN) optometrists participated in the 2026 Annual Academic Convention of the American Academy of Optometry in Anaheim, California, USA, from 29 September to 3 October 2026, engaging global eye-care professionals, equipment manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies on advanced technologies, professional training and capacity development. The engagement with the American Academy of Optometry’s Africa Chapter also facilitated collaboration with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity and International (VOSH), which donated free eyeglasses to 661 NAF Hospital, Ikeja, and the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital for community outreaches. The eyeglasses for 661 NAF Hospital were received by the Hospital Commander, Air Commodore AS Oyenusi. The initiative underscores the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening eye-care services, enhancing healthcare delivery and improving personnel welfare.
