The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through its Air Traffic Services Training Centre (ATSTC), Kaduna, has commenced specialised training for 50 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) under the Basic Air Traffic Control Assistant Course 24/2026 and Cabin Crew Initial Course 2/2026, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing aviation safety, operational efficiency and mission readiness. The combined inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, 18 June 2026, reflects the Chief of the Air Staff’s vision of building a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force through continuous capacity development.
Declaring the courses open, the Commandant, Air Traffic Services Training Centre, Air Vice Marshal NB Folaji, charged the trainees to uphold discipline, professionalism and safety as the bedrock of aviation operations. Emphasising aviation’s zero tolerance for error, he urged them to develop the competence, technical expertise and professional attitude required to excel in their respective fields. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to producing world-class aviation professionals through competency-based training and modern instructional techniques.
The 29 Air Traffic Control Assistant trainees will receive foundational instruction in air traffic services, flight data processing, radiotelephony and aerodrome operations in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) regulations, while the 21 Cabin Crew trainees will undergo intensive training in aviation safety, emergency procedures, first aid, security and passenger service before proceeding for NCAA licensing examinations. By investing in the development of these critical aviation professionals, the Nigerian Air Force continues to strengthen operational safety, enhance the effectiveness of its air operations and reinforce its capacity to deliver decisive air power in support of national security objectives.
