Nigerian Air Officers’ Wives Association Extends Humanitarian Gesture To Persons With Special Needs, Donates Wheelchairs, Other Materials

The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA), on 5 August 2019, extended a humanitarian gesture to the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, a home for skill acquisition and training for the physically challenged, located in Emene, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. Items donated include wheelchairs, crutches, toiletries and foodstuff.

Speaking during the handing over of the items, the NAFOWA Coordinator, Enugu State Chapter, Hajiya Nafisat ldi Amin, noted that the project was embarked upon to positively touch the lives of trainees at the Centre and make a difference to their daily existence. She explained that during the Association’s last visit, they were able to identify some of the Centre’s urgent needs. This prompted the desire to intervene by providing the items as part of NAFOWA’s effort to provide succour and thus render Service to Humanity.

The beneficiaries were extremely delighted and could not hide their appreciation for Association’s kind gesture. One of the trainees of the Centre, Mr Agu Antony, who spoke on behalf of others, commended the laudable move by NAFOWA to have responded promptly to the needs of the Centre. According to him, “the provision came as a great relief and would alleviate our immediate needs. Most of us did not have crutches or wheelchairs to move around. With this, we all can function better and be less dependent on anyone”.
