Nigerian Army Chief Of Accounts and Budget Declares 1 Division Finance Second Quarter 2022 Training Week Open In Kaduna

The Chief of Accounts and Budgets (Army) Maj Gen Adetokunbo Fayemiwo on Monday 5 June 2023 declared the Second Quarter 1 Division Finance Training Week 2023 open at the Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna. The 3 days training week with the theme “Enhancing Capacity and Skills of 1 Division Finance Officers/Clerks for Proactive and Efficient Delivery of Financial Services to 1 Division Nigerian Army” was organized by the Commander 1 Division Finance and Accounts Brig Gen OO Olutunde to keep participants abreast of contemporary issues as they affect the day to day performance of their duties.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour and Chief of Account and Budget (Army) Maj Gen AA Fayemiwo stated that the objective of the training week is to improve professionalism within the Nigerian Army Finance Corps and ensure interaction between officers and soldiers within and outside the Corps to derive maximum benefits and also justify resources released for the training.

He further reiterated that knowledge is power and for personnel to be relevant in the system they must continue to develop themselves as training is the best welfare for personnel of the Nigeria Army. He used the opportunity to profoundly thanked and appreciated the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya CFR for approving the training and providing the required logistics for the training and his other numerous support to the Corps. He also thanked the GOC 1 Division for being the pioneer Division to host the training and appreciated all his support to 1 Division Finance.

While delivering his goodwill message at the event, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army Major General OT Akinjobi appreciated the support and efforts of the Chief of Accounts and Budgets (Army) for initiating the training. He further stated that the theme of the training which is on efficient delivery of financial services is very apt. He added that the job of finance officers and soldiers is not restricted to emoluments alone and emphasized the need to understand financial management for efficient resource management and ethics.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 1 Division Finance and Accounts Brig Gen OO Olutunde noted that the training was initiated by the Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army) to enhance the development, Professionalism, and improvement of skills and knowledge of officers and clerks of 1 Division finance in tackling financial issues and guide them in rendering useful advice to their superiors in various areas of responsibilities.

High points of day 1 of the training week were paper presentations, lectures from esteemed resource persons, interactive sessions, presentations of souvenirs, and group photographs.
