Nigerian Army Intelligence School Charges 2025 Second Quarter Graduands On Critical Role Of Providing Accurate Intelligence For Effective Military Operations

The Nigerian Army Intelligence School (NAIS), TEGO Barracks, Apapa, had on 15 August 2025, graduated its Second Quarter Courses for year 2025. The event which took place at Bala Mande Hall of the School, had 7 different graduating courses in attendance, which included; Counter Intelligence Officers’ Course 35, Young Officers’ Course 50, Counter Intelligence SNCOs Course 28, Document Security Course 65, Advance Intelligence Operatives Course 93, Intermediate Intelligence Operatives Course 114, and Basic Intelligence Operatives Course 114.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) for the event, Commander 9 Brigade NA, Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola congratulated the students and said, in line with superior authority’s objective, training is the best welfare that could be given to soldiers and he has no doubt the students have taken their own chunk of that aspect of the welfare during their stay at NAIS.

The SGOH said that he is sure from the training received by the students, they are now better equipped to support their various units/formations in the drive to rid the nation of the hydra-headed security threats bedevelling the country cutting across banditry, secessionist activities, economic sabotage, terrorism, kidnapping for ransom and farmers/herders’ clashes among others.

Brigadier General Oyekola applauded the adjusting in course curricula by the Commandant to meet with the prevalent envisaged threats, the evolution of the school’s training programmes, which is tailored to reflect the dynamic security landscape of modern warfare, and intelligence operations. The reviewing of Exercises DESERT CHASE and SPIDER WEB, to reflect realism and address contemporary security threats.

Advising the graduands, Brigadier General Oyekola said, “you are to note that going through this course and scoring high grades is not enough; what makes you a professional intelligence operative is your ability to practically apply the classroom teachings and exercises to real life situations. You have the role of providing accurate intelligence on the adversary and making intelligence projections that will continue to impact our operations. Therefore, your various commanders will more than ever before depend on your inputs to succeed, “he concluded.

The SGOH, on behalf of the students, extended sincere appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, for authorising and providing the needed funds to run the courses. He also appreciated the Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), Major General TB Ugiagbe, for his strategic direction and guidance to NAIS. He also extended the appreciation to the Commandant NAIS, Brigadier General Kingsley Nwoko, for his unwavering drive, dedication, tenacity, and exceptional sense of innovation since assumption of office.

The event culminated with the presentation of awards to deserving students who distinguished themselves during the courses, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
