‘Nigerian Army is Ready To Absorb Returning Doctors — Chief Of Air Staff

The Nigerian Army has declared its readiness to absorb into its military hospitals Nigerian medical doctors abroad who are willing to return to the country.

Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, said this when the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and her team paid him a visit at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

This was contained in a release by the Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM), Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

The CoAS said the Army will collaborate with NiDCOM’s advocacy of bringing back home the best brains from the Diaspora to help develop the various sectors in the country.

Lagbaja said, having been in the Diaspora before now, he noticed that Nigeria parade the best doctors in UK, US, Canada and South Africa.

He said the Nigerian Army, under his command, would be willing to employ them if they return home, thus reducing the scourge of brain drain.

The CoAS expressed delight that Nigeria Army has been excelling in any military assignments given to them abroad and making the country proud.

“It is therefore a thing of joy for me to partner with NiDCOM to celebrate these military warriors who have been making us proud abroad in all their military operations as a morale booster for them,” he added

The CoAS said the Army will be willing to collaborate with the Commission, even at the home front, to enhance the visibility of the security agency.

He said this would also make Nigerians appreciate them for their sacrifice in keeping the country safe from any internal and external aggression.

He restated the resolve of the Army, under his Command, to maintain discipline and professionalism.

He added that they will also ensure the protection of the citizenry against any form of aggression that may affect Nigeria, as a corporate entity..

Earlier, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa congratulated the CoAS and commended him for his professionalism and the new positive image Army is getting since his assumption of office.

She said NiDCOM offered to partner with the Nigerian Army, being one of the best globally, in celebrating and appreciating what they were doing to protect humanity.

The NiDCOM Chief Executive also showcased the activities of the Commission and areas of collaboration.

She urged the CoAS not to rest on his oars in the discharge of the professional duties of the military. She noted that Nigerians do appreciate their sacrifice.
