The first presentation by Maj Gen GK Nwosu Subject Experts on China. His presentation provided a synopsis of some trending Chinese news with universal implications. First, was that China had overtaken Japan as the world’s biggest exporter of passenger cars. China rise in vehicle production is due to increase global demand for new energy vehicles as western countries enact legislation in a meeting fossil fuel (combustion) vehicle and their emission. The Second topic was China had operationalized its first domestically produced passenger jets which took off on its maiden commercial flight on Sunday and finally was the question of Chinese police stations in Nigeria? He noted in his analysis and lessons for Nigeria that African countries are falling to the lure of cheap money which could be termed as greed. The low interest loans, free infrastructure all with liberal interest rates are all at a price. African countries especially our country Nigeria could know that sovereignty of the nations is at stake. He recommended that The NARC should advice the relevant authorities to direct that the Chinese police stations be placed under own law enforcement authorities.

The second presentation by Maj Gen JG Mohammed subject experts on Middle East. His presentation discuss Iran to mark national environment week. The environmental week will focus on solution to plastic pollution under the campaign. The world is being inundated by plastic with more than 400 million tonnes of plastic produce every year, half of which is designed to be used only once while less than 10 percent is recycled and estimated 19-23 million tonnes end up in lakes, rivers and sea.

General Mohammed noted that Nigeria will need to address the issue of plastic pollution, accelerate action to tackle climate change impact that are disproportionately affecting developing countries such as Nigeria, even though they account for the lowest proportion of casual factors. Nigeria has in the past made effort by organizing lectures, debates by students, tree planting campaigns and musical concerts to commemorate the WED, however the impacts of this efforts have not yielded desired result, hence the need for a review of strategy and more vigor in the campaign.

This calls for an urgent need to focus on the need to life sustainably with nature and possibility for shifting to a greener life style true both policy and individual choices for the benefit of mankind. He further recommended the that ministry of environment in collaburtion with the national orientation agency to conduct national awareness on environmental protection on regular basis.
