Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information Inaugurates Second Quarter 2024 Courses

The Commandant Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ngulde has inaugurated the year 2024 Second Quarter courses comprising of Media Operations Officers’ Course (MOOC), X2 News Reporting and X2 Graphics Design and Printing Courses respectively at the School auditorium in Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja. The inaugurated courses are made up Officers and Soldiers of Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force respectively.

In his inauguration speech, Lt Col Ngulde revealed that NASPRI for more than a decade has provided a solid base for understanding of Public Relations practice and has trained about 4000 Officers, Soldiers, Ratings and Airmen since it’s inception in 2010 and has strived to achieve the training objectives of the Nigerian Army by producing well -grounded Officers and Soldiers that possess the requisite skills to meet the contemporary Public Relations demands of the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces at large.

He also stressed that Media Operations play a crucial role in the Armed Forces by shaping public perception and maintaining transparency. Also by providing accurate and timely information to the public about activities, achievements, challenges and other contemporary issues of the Armed Forces. Accordingly, it is also essential for countering misinformation and propaganda that may be spread by adversaries or hostile media.

The commandant therefore urged the students to remain focused on their studies as he promise to continue to do his best within the resources available to make NASPRI conducive for teaching and learning. The Commandant expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja for his unwavering commitment to the Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR) and NASPRI in particular since he assumed Command.

This commitment has once again manifested by the Chief of Army (COAS) unscheduled yesterday’s visit to NASPRI to ascertain the level of damage done by rain storm on NASPRI buildings, where he gave immediate directive for the commencement of renovation of the affected NASPRI buildings. This commitment has indeed placed the DAPR and NASPRI in better position to contribute more to the professional training drive of the Army and achieving the COAS Command Philosophy. He also thanked the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla and the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar respectively for believing in NASPRI capacity and sending their personnel to participate in the courses.

Earlier, the Acting Chief Instructor (CI) of the School, Capt Everest Ochienta while presenting the course expectations told the students that courses in the Armed Forces are prerequisite for career progression and service delivery, students are therefore expected to meet up with the training objectives of the courses. The Acting Chief Instructor further told the students that they will be exposed to theoretical and practical aspect of their training which underscores the need for them to take advantage of the training opportunities from the capable instructors of the School to enhance their capacity.

Capt Ochienta concluded by reminding the student to always be guided in their conduct by the School Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Nigerian Army Core Values in order to exhibit the highest standard of discipline required of military personnel.

Highlight of the event include official inauguration of the courses and group photographs at the NASPRI Photo Stand.
