Participants Of Air War College Nigeria On Study Tour Visits Operation Safe Haven, Explore Ways To Tackle Security Challenges

The participants of Air War College Nigeria Course 10/2024 have visited Special Task Force Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), in furtherance of their study tour to theatre of operations in the country to explore new strategies to tackle security challenges. Welcoming the participants to Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA), the General Officer Commanding 3 Division NA and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar, informed the participants that OPSH has consistently fulfilled the primary responsibility of restoring peace and maintaining law and order in its area of responsibility, in support of civil authority.

The GOC/Comd OPSH, described the theme of the study tour “Armed Banditry and Human Security: Plateau State in Perspective” as apt, providing participants with valuable insights and perspectives that will enhance understanding of the challenges faced in combating insecurity on the Plateau.

General Abubakar also stated, that the study tour will afford participants the opportunity to understand the operational environment and provide them the challenges and constraints faced within the joint operations area. He explained further, that OPSH is a people-centric operation which requires the holistic contributions of the people in addressing security concerns.

In his remarks, the team leader, Air Vice Marshal AG Kehinde decried the increasing number of attacks and reprisal attacks in the State. Represented by Air Commodore CE Akpa, the team leader cautioned against proliferation of arms and called for concerted efforts in combating the menace, in order to reduce criminal attacks in the JOA. The team leader further called for an increased leadership engagement to salvage the security situation and restore complete normalcy on the Plateau.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the participants, Wing Commander AA Kotti, said participants have been equipped with the knowledge of both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in combating insecurity in the State. He disclosed that knowledge gained during the study tour will be put into good use for the benefit of the college and future research.

Highlights of the visit includes presentation of brief on the activities of OPSH, interactive session, presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
