Nigerian Army Troops Arrest 2 Kidnappers, Raid Criminals’ Hideouts, Recover Arms, Ammunition In Kaduna and Plateau

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A have continued to dominate OPSH Area of Responsibility (AOR) with intensive operations aimed at frustrating the activities of criminal elements and also denying them freedom of action within the area.

In this latest operational breakthrough, on 16 March 2025, troops of OPSH raided a hideout belonging to suspected kidnappers/gunrunners at Ungwan Mallam village in Sanga Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna state. The operation was conducted based on credible information that kidnappers were hibernating in the area. During the operation, the criminals fled before troops arrived at the hideout. However, own troops combed the area and recovered 2 fabricated AK-47 rifles, 2 Dane guns and 14 cartridges. The recovered arms and ammunition are in custody, while efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing criminals.

Similarly, on 15 March 2025, troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN nabbed two notorious kidnappers, Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad in Plateau State. The operation, conducted under Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A; raided kidnappers’ hideout at Katume high grounds in Bassa LGA, following a tip off that kidnappers often hide their victims in the area while negotiating for ransom.

During the operation, troops recovered 1 AK-47 rifle and 1 AK-47 magazine from the kidnappers. The arrested kidnappers are currently in custody, making useful confessions that will aid follow-up operations to arrest other cohorts and recover their weapons.

These significant operational successes are a testament to the commitment of Operation SAFE HAVEN to effectively tackle insecurity in its AOR.
