Nigerian Army Troops Smash Bandit Meeting, Destroy Camps, Recover Motorcycles In Taraba
In continuation of ongoing clearance operations across Taraba State, gallant troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have dismantled several bandit hideouts and successfully recovered logistics used by the criminals. The intelligence-driven operation targeted a meeting allegedly convened by a wanted notorious bandit leader identified as Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, also known as Bajor.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a swift and aggressive offensive on 5 July 2025, targeting remote areas in the southern part of Wukari Local Government Area, believed to be a stronghold of the Bajor-led syndicate. Upon arrival, the criminals, sensing imminent danger, fled the scene, abandoning several valuable items.
The operation led to the destruction of key hideouts used by the syndicate for coordinating attacks and harboring weapons. Troops also recovered five operational motorcycles, suspected to have been used for rapid movement and raids on surrounding communities.
Speaking on the operation, Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, noted that while Bajor and his cohorts narrowly escaped, troops remain on high alert and are currently tracking their movements. He emphasized that the Nigerian Army remains committed to pursuing and neutralizing all criminal elements threatening the peace and security of law-abiding citizens in Taraba State and beyond.
Brigadier General Uwa reaffirmed the resolve of 6 Brigade to sustain pressure on all terrorist enclaves. He called on residents of Taraba State to continue providing timely and actionable information to security agencies in support of ongoing operations.
He added that the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army will continue to adopt both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
