Another Nigerian has just been murdered abroad, this time in Italy.

According to Vanguard, Emmanuel Chidi and his partner were walking down the streets of Paolo Calcinora when racial insults were thrown at them by a football fanatic. This reportedly led to an altercation and Chidi was physically attacked.

Archy World described his killer as a 40-year-old local football fan who uprooted a steel signpost and brutally beat Chidi on the head until he lost consciousness.

He died from the violence Emmanuel Chidi Namdi, Nigerian, 36, severely beaten in Fermo for reacting to racist epithets directed at his companion . The man, an asylum seeker who fled with his girlfriend, 24, from the horror of Boko Haram (in a dramatic journey in which she has also lost a child) and hosted by last September by the Episcopal seminary of the Marche town, last night was walking with girlfriend in via XX Settembre when a stop has started to cause the pair, calling “monkey” her and insulting heavily too.

Emmanuel reacted to provocation, and the Italian, a 40-year old known ultras of the local team, uprooted a signaling pole for use in mo ‘with a steel bar, and hit the Nigerian reducing dying. After one day in agony, attached to a respirator, Emmanuel died. The assailant was reported on the loose.

“As mayor of a city welcoming and always open to integration, it seems to me to fall into a nightmare with what happened and the pain of a life that you go breaking, the more thinking like, just in the last day, I had experienced the embrace of the Islamic community that found itself at the end of Ramadan, inviting me as a sign of welcome and gratitude for the relationship between different worlds and our territory ” , he commented Mayor Paul Fermo Calcinaro . “It is a must, but not silenced, the firm condemnation not only for what happened but what emerges from the episode, or the creeping racism that can not and should not be accommodated in any way in our city. My proximity also goes to Don Vinicio Albanesi and those working in the reception centers, for their daily work, because the germ of racism can not in any way proliferate in this community. ”

Chidi died at a hospital yesterday.

Confirming the tragic news, the mayor of the town, Paul Fermo Calcinaro said: “As mayor of a town that is welcoming and open to integration, I feel I’m living in a nightmare.

Chidi and his partner Chinyere had been living in the small town for eight months after arriving Europe through the Mediterranean Sea. They were lodged in a shelter run by Catholic charity Caritas.

Chidi’s murderer was yet to be apprehended as at press time.
