
Nigerian Navy At 69: Chief Of Naval Staff Commissions, Inspects Projects In Lagos
The activities marking Nigerian Navy @ 69 garnered momentum on Wednesday 28 May 2025 with the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla commissioning some completed projects and inspecting other ongoing projects in Lagos area.
First was the Commissioning of Accounts and Budget Senior Officers Accommodation in Apapa Lagos. The beautifully completed and furnished projects comprises 5 x units of 3 x bedroom duplexes to serve as official accommodation for the Senior officers of Accounts and Budget Branch.
Second was the inspection of ongoing works at the Junior Officers Accommodation also in Apapa, Lagos. This project comprises 90 x Units of Apartments proposed to accommodate junior officers serving in Lagos area. On completion it will remarkably ease the housing deficit in Lagos area.
Third was the highpoint of the day, which was unveiling of the remodelled auditorium for the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION) located at NNS QUORRA Apapa. Recall that IMION was established in 2024 as the brain child of the CNS to serve as a veritable think-tank for stakeholders in the maritime sector. Since then, the Institute led by Rear Admiral TC Udofia (rtd) has performed excellently by initiating many training packages and improving on existing infrastructure hence the remodelled auditorium was unveiled.
Fourth was the inspection of Reconstruction/Remodelling of Fleet Support Group (West) Heavy Engineering Workshop. A project designed to reposition and improve the services delivered by FSG (W).
