
Nigerian Navy, Police Reinforce Strategic Partnership For National Security
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, on Wednesday 25 March 2026 received the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, at Naval Headquarters, Abuja, where both reaffirmed stronger collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Police Force. The IGP commended existing cooperation and stressed intelligence-driven policing, joint investigations, and training, while seeking sustained naval support.
The CNS congratulated the IGP on his appointment and emphasized enhanced intelligence sharing and operational synergy. He offered maritime training for the Marine Police through the Joint Maritime Security Training Centre and disclosed the establishment of a Maritime Crime Investigation Desk in liaison with INTERPOL to strengthen maritime law enforcement.
The CNS also invited the Nigeria Police Force to support activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th Anniversary, particularly in traffic and event security. Both leaders reaffirmed commitment to a coordinated, intelligence-led approach to national security.
