
Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder Conducts Free Medical Rhapsody To Mark 2025 Navy Week Celebration
On Tuesday 20 May 2025, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER led by the Commander, Commodore CN Aniaku conducted a free Medical Rhapsody at the Community Town Hall, Mgbu-Oshimimi Rumuorlumeni, Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State as part of the activities marking the 2025 Navy Week Celebration. The essence of the Medical Rhapsody was to provide medical services and improve the well-being of the community, fostering a stronger relationship between NNS PATHFINDER and the host community. Also, to give back to society, particularly the less privileged who may not have access to Medicare regularly.
The rhapsody included blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, hepatitis B & C screening, blood sugar checks, Malaria tests, HIV Screening, Health talk, as well as free medical consultations amongst others. The Base further distributed 125 insecticide treated mosquito nets. A total number of 1500 Persons, comprising children, pregnant women and elderly persons among others, benefited from the medical outreach.
The Nigerian Navy under the strategic leadership of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla will continue to ensure that its mandate extends beyond safeguarding our waters and strategic national assets to ensuring that the medical health and safety of the people in the riverine as well as coastal communities are attended to. The Nigerian Navy remains a key stakeholder in Nation building and through activities like this, it aims to strengthen the bond with its surrounding communities.
