The Crime prevention and control strategies adopted by the Nigeria Police Force in the recent time to reduce violent crimes in the country remain unwavering. The efforts of the Force to protect lives and property of all Nigerians across the country and nip in the bud all forms of crimes and criminality has continued to yield positive results.
2. In addition to the pursuance of the above, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni, directives on 21st February, 2018 to the Commissioners of Police and their Supervising Assistant Inspectors General of Police for the commencement of disarmament, mopping up, seizure and recovery from wrong hands; prohibited and other illegal firearms and ammunition, weapons and devices, locally fabricated or modified that can cause death or injury of person(s) is currently ongoing throughout the country.
3. The above suspects were arrested for crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching, cattle rustling and fabrication of locally made prohibited/illegal firearms. They have confessed to the various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crime. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the gangs still at large. All suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
4. Members of the public whose vehicles were either stolen from where parked or snatched at gun point in the recent times should proceed to the Niger State Police Headquarters for identification and collection with documents of proof of ownership.
5. The renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to guarantee protection of Lives and Property across the country remains unequivocal.
