Nigeria’s Aderonke Ariyo Selected as a 2016 Grammy Awards Governor

Today, top Nigerian act, Dj Soupa Model (real name Aderonke Ariyo) revealed that she was selected as a Recording Academy Awards Governor.

The Recording Academy, which administers the world’s biggest music awards – the Grammys, is made up of “musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for music and its makers.”

The Recording Academy, also known as The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), is a U.S. organization of musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for music and its makers. The Recording Academy is headquartered in Santa Monica. Neil Portnow is the current president of The Academy.

The Recording Academy, which began in 1957, is known for its Grammy Awards. In 1997, the Recording Academy launched The Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc., which produces the Latin GRAMMY Awards. Michael Greene was the founder and the first President of the Latin Grammys.

Each year, the organisation selects artistes that sit on the board, deciding how the organisation, which has 12 chapters in the United States, is run. And for this period, Nigeria’s Aderonke Ariyo, sits on the board of the Washington DC chapter.

Celebrating this news, the disc jockey took to Instagram to inform her fans “Africa to the (world)  the Grammys DC yearbook is out! Here are the Governors!” She wrote, adding, “Places your last name can’t take you! This is all you GOD. Now let’s celebrate. Great day.”\
