NSCDC, Customs Strengthen Synergy as Commandant Visits Imo/Abia Command
The Imo/Abia Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) hosted the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday, 29 October 2026, to strengthen ties with the NCS.
The meeting took place at the Command Headquarters Conference Room, where the Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC), Deputy Comptroller of Customs Happiness Ikpi-Ebri, warmly received the Commandant of the NSCDC, Imo State Command, Commandant Chukwuka Eric Egbunna and his team.
In her welcome address, the Acting Customs Area Controller described the Commandant as her first courtesy visitor since she assumed duty, noting that the visit was significant and a good omen for greater inter-agency cooperation in the state.
Stating the purpose of his visit, Commandant Egbunna said it aimed to strengthen the existing synergy and maintain intelligence sharing between the two agencies within the state, adding that the NSCDC has the mandate to manage disasters and crises and protect critical national assets, among others. “Collaboration with sister agencies is critical to achieving these mandates,” the Commandant stated.
In her response, the Acting Customs Area Controller described the visit as highly motivational and noted that the Nigeria Customs Service has worked in joint operations with the NSCDC in Imo State. “The NCS and the NSCDC have a cordial working relationship,” the Acting CAC added, expressing optimism that the relationship between the two agencies will grow even better under her leadership.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Nnamdi Aligwekwe, sensitised the visiting team on the Service’s mandates, which include revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, implementation of government fiscal policies, and facilitation of legitimate trade.
