NYSC Critical Partner in Anti-corruption Fight – Magu

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has urged the National Youth Service Corps NYSC/EFCC Anti-corruption Community Development Service (EFCC/NYSC CDS) group to keep up its anti-corruption sensitisation campaigns in secondary and tertiary institutions, describing NYSC as critical stakeholder in the anti-corruption fight.

Magu gave the charge on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 during the EFCC/NYSC CDS’ weekly sensitization and enlightenment campaign programme on the dangers of cyber crime and other social vices, in Damaturu, Yobe State, NYSC Secretariat.

“The NYSC members are critical stakeholders in the fight against corruption. They should continue in carrying out sensitization and enlightenment campaigns in secondary schools and higher institutions of learning.

“The aim of the sensitisation is to let the public understand the negative consequences of corruption in the country”, Magu stated.

The EFCC boss, who was represented by Sale Jamilu, Head, Public Affairs Directorate, Maiduguri Zonal Office, while commending the EFCC/NYSC CDS group for their unrelenting efforts in the fight against economic and financial crimes in the North-east, charged them to see their contributions in the anti-corruption fight in the state as service to humanity.

According to him, “The rate of corruption in our society is alarming, but the commitment of the EFCC and that of various stakeholders such as the EFCC/NYSC CDS in carrying out enlightenment campaign is heart warming”, he said.

Idris Ngala, the NYSC Zonal Inspector, in his remarks, commended the Commission for the support it gives to the CDS group as well as the publicity it receives from the Commission, which he noted, eases the sensitization and enlightenment campaign in Damaturu.
