Ola-Oluwa LGA Indigenes Unity Forum Honours Lt Gen LO Adeosun (rtd) At Iwo, Osun State

A Socio-cultural organisation, the Ola-Oluwa Indigenes Forum, Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area, State of Osun, on Saturday 21st June 2022, held a special homecoming and retirement reception for one of their illustrious son, Lieutenant General Lamidi Oyebayo Adeosun (rtd), a former Chief of Policy and Plans (Army) at the Newart Event Centre, Ori Eru Junction, Iwo, State of Osun.

However, earlier before the event, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Benin Republic, and a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (rtd), who was among the eminent people that attended the occasion, paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Alase Lori Orisha Teju 1, the paramount ruler of Iwoland, at his palace.

During the visit to the Royal Father, Lieutenant General Buratai (rtd) stated that he was in Iwo for the reception ceremony organised in honour of Lt Gen Adeosun (rtd) and deemed it wise to pay his respects to the monarch.

The Ambassador expressed pleasure to be at the very historic and beautiful palace of the royal monarch and said he was delighted for the reception in honour of Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun (rtd) after his voluntary retirement from the Nigerian Army.

He thanked the Oba for his forthrightness and firm belief in the unity of our country Nigeria in words and deeds.

He also stated that he was glad that he met the monarch and said that he was very proud of him as one of those eminent Nigerian leaders that believe in our national unity.

He thanked him for his support to the Nigerian Army during his tenure and beyond.

He then took the opportunity to canvassed support for the candidature of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as one most experienced Presidential aspirants. He said if elected, he would make Nigeria better and run an all-inclusive government.

In his response, the Oluwo of Iwoland, who deviated from the typical tradition of speaking in English, thanked General Buratai for a visit.

He said that the palace was quite impressed with his track record of the former Chief of Army Staff’s service and also thanked him for his support for Lt Gen LO Adeosun (rtd) to the extent of recommending him for promotion to the rank of three Star General.

In view of that, the Oba said that the palace would soon confer befitting traditional titles to Lt General Buratai (rtd) and Lt Gen LO Adeosun (rtd).

In response to the Ambassador’s plea, the monarch wished him well and stated that as God gives power they would could continue to pray for the emergence of the right and most fitting person to lead the nation to enhance peace and development in our country.

Those who accompanied the Nigerian Ambassador to the Benin Republic and former Chief of Army Staff, HIs Excellency, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (rtd), including Major General II Abba (rtd), Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman (rtd) mni, Alhaji Manzo Ahmed, Brigadier General MB Wabili, who represented the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General GU Chibuisi, and Brigadier General KF Suleiman, amongst others.

Also in attendance were several traditional rulers members and executive committee members of the Ola-Oluwa Indigenes Forum, as well as notable sons and daughters of the community.
