Operation Safe Haven Hosts Participants Of Army War College, Deepens Understanding Of Internal Security Dynamics

The participants of Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 8/24 Team 2 conducted a significant visit to the Joint Task Force Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on 26 March 2024 as part of Internal Security study tour, aimed at bolstering the nation’s security framework through collaborative interagency efforts in a joint environment.

In a warm welcome address at Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General AE Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division NA and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, ably represented by the Chief of Staff Brigadier General AU Gumel, extended his greetings to the participants and urged them to glean valuable insights from the briefings to enhance security measures for peace and stability across the country.

He commended the theme of the study tour, which is “Comprehensive Approach to Security as an Imperative for Addressing Multi-Dimensional Security Threats for Enhanced National Security,” emphasizing the importance of concerted efforts involving various stakeholders, including the military, in combating security challenges.

In his remarks, Major General Ishaya Maina, the Commandant AWCN, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and underscored the significance of the study tour in equipping operational-level officers with the necessary skills to confront evolving security challenges effectively.

Describing the Internal Security Study Tour as a vital aspect of the College curriculum and Interagency cooperation in military operations module, General Maina highlighted its importance in addressing emerging security threats within a complex environment, with research findings benefiting participating agencies.

Conveying gratitude on behalf of the participants, Lieutenant Colonel KI Ugwanyi acknowledged the enriching experience gained during the study tour, emphasizing its value in enhancing their understanding of internal security operations within OPSH and its applicability in future research endeavors.

Comprising 35 military participants and 21 representatives from other security agencies, the visit included briefings on OPSH activities, interactive sessions, souvenir presentations, and a memorable group photograph, serving as a testament to the fruitful collaboration between the Army War College Nigeria and Operation SAFE HAVEN in fortifying national security efforts.
