Operational Visit: Commander 27 TF Brigade Visits 135 Special Forces Battalion

The Commander, 27 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Mukhtar S Mukhtar, has commenced operational visit, to the units under command with 135 Special Forces (SF) Battalion, Buratai, Biu local government area, Borno State.

The visit took place on Wednesday 15 July 2026, as part of his ongoing efforts to assess the operational readiness of troops and enhance professionalism in the ongoing operations within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.

During the visit, the Commander was received by the Commanding Officer of 135 Special Forces (SF) Battalion Lieutenant Colonel BN Tali, alongside staff officers of the unit. He was briefed on the battalion’s operational activities, security situation, ongoing operations, logistical requirements, and key challenges affecting operational efficiency.

Addressing troops, Brigadier General Mukhtar commended their courage, resilience, discipline and unwavering commitment to the fight against Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) and Islam State of West African Province’s (ISWAP) insurgency. He urged them to remain disciplined, vigilant, and professional while maintaining the highest standards of operational conduct, social media violations and respect for human rights in all engagements.

General Mukhtar emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven operations, inter-agency collaboration, and sustained offensive actions aimed at denying criminal elements freedom of action. He assured the troops of his commitment to improving their welfare, logistics, and operational support to enhance mission effectiveness.

General Mukhtar further encouraged the personnel to remain focused and motivated, stressing that their sacrifices are critical to restoring lasting peace and security in the North East and Nigeria at large.

The visit culminated with inspection of Battalion’s facilities and deployments, operational brief, inspection of quarter guard, signing of visitor’s book, presentation of souvenirs, group photographs and refreshments.
