The Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, warned his personnel against taking bribe from politicians before, during and after the September 22 governorship election of Osun State.

He gave the warning in Osogbo, the state capital at a stakeholders’ town hall meeting organized by the NSCDC in partnership with a German foundation, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). Represented by Deputy Commandant General in charge of Crisis Management Directorate, Emmanuel Adeoye, the NSCDC boss urged his men to perform their duties efficiently during the election.

He warned that any officers caught collecting bribe from any politician during the election would be dismissed from service.

Muhammadu call for a violence free election in the state, saying election should not be a do-or-die affair.

KAS Country Director Hildegard Behrendt-Kigozi said the meeting was aimed at sensitising stakeholders on the need for a violence-free election in the state.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola, represented by his deputy Titi Laoye-Tomori, stressed the need to sensitise youths on why they should not allow themselves to be used as political thugs.
