Plateau Lawmaker Dies Shortly After Winning Re-election
Ezekiel Afon, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for Pengana Constituency in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State in the Saturday House of Assembly election, is dead.
Punch reports that Afon, who is the incumbent rep for the state constituency, died on Sunday, shortly after news of his victory in the House of Assembly election in Plateau state broke.
Confirming his death, President of Irigwe Youth Development Union, Chinge Dodo, said:
That is the sad news. It is true. He has just been declared the winner of the election conducted on Saturday. The people who evacuated his corpse are still in the mortuary as I speak with you.
I was told he was hale and hearty all through today and he was even said to have been in a joyful mood with friends this afternoon before his sudden death this evening. I was told he just slumped and died. This is really unfortunate.
