President Of Alumni Association of the National Institute’s 64th Independence Day Message To Members Of The Association and All Nigerians

MESSAGE BY AMBASSADOR EMMANUEL OBI OKAFOR, mni, THE PRESIDENT, ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE (AANI) TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION AND ALL NIGERIANS ON THE OCCASION OF NIGERIA’S 64TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

Distinguished Members of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) and fellow Nigerians,

On this auspicious occasion of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our esteemed members and every Nigerian, both at home and in the diaspora. Today is a day of reflection, a day to celebrate our shared history, acknowledge the challenges we’ve overcome, and draw inspiration from the resilience that has defined us as a nation.

Indeed, Nigeria is going through a period marked by economic hardship and security challenges. These harsh realities affect us all, but in the face of adversity, Nigerians have remained hopeful, resilient, and committed to building a better future. I therefore commend every Nigerian for your perseverance, endurance, and contributions, in whatever capacity, to the betterment of our great nation. Your unwavering spirit is the bedrock of our continued progress.

I also commend the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for its sensitivity to the plight of Nigerians by ensuring that this year’s celebrations are low-key in recognition of the economic realities that many face. The chosen theme, “Reflecting on the Past, Inspiring the Future,” could not be more fitting. It reminds us of the importance of learning from our past experiences as we chart a course toward a brighter future. Let us embrace this theme as a call to action, to unite, inspire one another and redouble our efforts to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

At this juncture, I must also express profound appreciation to the members of our armed forces and security agencies for their sterling efforts in defending and securing our nation. Their sacrifices and commitment to safeguarding our sovereignty, even in the most difficult of circumstances, deserve our deepest gratitude. I commend them for their bravery, tireless service and sacrifices. However, I also urge them to remain ever-vigilant and to continue striving for excellence as we confront new and evolving security threats. Our hope for a secure, prosperous and peaceful Nigeria rests on their shoulders, and we trust they will continue to rise to the occasion.

At this point, I must also appeal to those Nigerians considering embarking on strikes or protests against bad governance to reflect on the potential impact such actions could have on our fragile social fabric, fledgeling democracy, and recovering economy. While it is important to seek redress, I urge all parties to pursue dialogue and peaceful solutions. Violence and unrest can have lasting negative effects, derailing our progress and harming the very people we seek to protect.

To my esteemed colleagues in AANI, I salute your unwavering dedication to the ideals of our association and national development towards a better society. AANI remains a beacon of unity, promoting policies and initiatives that foster national cohesion, peace, and security. Through our ongoing contributions to national discourse and leadership development, we are shaping a future where every Nigerian can thrive in a secure and prosperous environment.

As we forge ahead, let us recognise that the strength of Nigeria lies in its diversity. We must continue to work together across ethnic, religious, regional lines and political affiliations to build a nation where every citizen feels valued and included. Therefore, let this 64th Independence Day Anniversary remind us that our shared destiny is far greater than any differences that may divide us. We call on all levels of government to renew their commitment to good governance and to work tirelessly towards improving the lives of all Nigerians.

As we celebrate our country’s 64th Independence Anniversary, let us reaffirm our commitment to the service of our dear nation. Let us be inspired by our past, motivated by the sacrifices of our heroes, and energised to build a future that is secure, peaceful, and prosperous for all.

May Almighty God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and may He guide us as we build a nation of which we can all be proud.

Happy Independence Anniversary, Nigeria!
