Rapper Kodak Black To Be Released From Prison Soon

According to The Blast, the Florida rapper’s expected release date from jail has been moved to August 18, 2018, and this is because the judge in charge of his case reportedly granted a motion from his lawyers to recognise 30 additional days of time-served for him.

“All I can say is, I work very hard to try and give all of my clients a second chance,” said the rapper’s attorney Bradford Cohen to Pitchfork in a statement. “We were lucky that the matter concerning Bill a/k/a Kodak was resolved in a way we felt was extremely fair by the prosecutor handling the matter. He looks forward to getting out and creating new music and spreading his charity work.”

This comes barely two weeks after Kodak Black, whose new legal name is Bill K. Kapri, revealed that he has now earned a GED.

The rapper’s recent trouble with the law started after he was arrested and charged with multiple felonies in January 2018 following an Instagram Live broadcast which showed a young child in the vicinity of marijuana and a handgun.

His lawyers later argued that there was no evidence that the guns and drugs in the video were real, and all felony charges were dropped. Then he entered an open plea to probation violation charges.

Meanwhile, Kodak was indicted on unrelated sexual assault charges in October 2017 and is currently awaiting trial.
