Remain Resolute Committed and Steadfast In Discharging Your Constitutional Roles – GOC Charges Officers

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Taskforce (North West) Operation HADARIN DAJI Major General Godwin Micheal Mutkut has charged young officers to remain resolute and maintain steadfastness while discharging their constitutional roles. He said as young officers their professional conduct as trained personnel is needed now more than ever before in surmounting the global contemporary security challenges.

The GOC who was represented by Commander 8 Division Garrison Brig Gen Amos Tawasimi stated this during the closing ceremony of 8 Division Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition which ended today at Giginya Cantonment Sokoto. He said with the level of insecurity in the country and the world at large it requires consistent training of personnel to enable the armed forces secure the lives and property of law-abiding citizens.

The Inter-Brigade competition which commenced on Tuesday this week had 4 formations in participation. The competition had 1 Bde Gusau, 17 Bde Katsina, 8 Division Garrison, and 48 Engineer Brigade that competed in Map Reading, Combat Swimming, Weapon Handling, 10km Combat Race, and Obstacle Crossing. At the end of the competition, the host formation 1 Bde emerged first, 17 Bde came 2nd while 48 Engineer Brigade and 8 Division Garrison emerged 3rd and 4th respectively.

The Inter-Brigade competition is part of Army Headquarters’ yearly training activities which is aimed at enhancing sportsmanship, teamwork, and to maintain esprit-de-corps among personnel of the Nigerian Army especially when in theatres of operations.
