The pop phenom has been known to shock and awe in her visuals, from the crime drama that played out in her 2015 short film for “Bitch Better Have My Money” to the bad romance in her fiery clip for 2011’s Calvin Harris collaboration “We Found Love.” Whether she’s keeping it sexy or turning all the way up, her YouTube page has raked in over 9.6 billion views.
Riri has also bagged four VMA nods: Best Female Video for the Drake-assisted “Work,” Best Male Video for her contributions to Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For” and two in the Best Collaboration category for the aforementioned hits.
Last year, Kanye West was honoured with the awards and during his acceptance speech, he declared his intention to run for president come 2020.
Other artistes who have also received the award include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears and more.
Rihanna has raked in four VMA nominations, and she will be performing live at the awards ceremony. The awards will hold at the Madison Square Garden on August 28.
