He gave the commendation at the Headquarters 6 Division Combined West African Social Activities (WASA) for the year ended 2025, held at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground, Port Harcourt Barracks.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Benibo Anabraba, expressed his pleasure at being part of the occasion, noting that the event showcased that the military is truly one family and underscored a strong bond with the barracks community, either biologically or occupationally. He commended the military, most especially Headquarters 6 Division, NA, for fighting the menace of crude oil theft in the NDR and other criminal activities.

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, NA, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, stated that WASA is an occasion to celebrate the end-of-year military training and operations, as well as to usher in the new-year military training and operations, noting that the occasion was an opportunity to socialize and interact with members of their families in a relaxed atmosphere, while friends enjoyed activities within the military barracks.

The GOC used the medium to highlight the progress and achievements the NA has recorded, adding that the cumulative efforts in ensuring peace, security, and development have laid the foundation for a brighter future. He reminded the NA and other security agencies that they share responsibility for building the region’s stability and urged them to redouble efforts in the fight against oil theft and other criminal activities in the NDR.

The event featured cultural displays, presentations of awards to soldiers who distinguished themselves in various capacities, and a tug of war between Python Babies and National Youth Service Corps members serving in Port Harcourt Barracks.
