Cristiano Ronaldo Set for £75million Manchester United Return Bid
Cristiano Ronaldo has been told he is free to return to Manchester United in a deal worth £75million next summer, according to reports in Spain.
Spain and European champions Real Madrid are reportedly looking to cash in on their record goalscorer, who has looked way below his usual high standards so far this season.
Ronaldo wanted to force through a return to Old Trafford in the summer following accusations of tax fraud in Madrid, but was persuaded to stay on.
It is understood that Los Blancos were finally pushed to make the move following a demand by in-form playmaker Isco, who says he’s no longer ready to play second fiddle to the Portuguese superstar.
Having been in and out of the first team, Isco has arguably been Madrid’s best player since the second half of last season, and delivered a virtuoso performance playing as a false 9 with Ronaldo on the flanks in a Liga clash against Espanyol.
And with the Spaniard seemingly seen as the future of the Real side, the bosses at the Bernabeu now want to cash in on Ronaldo while his market value is still relatively high, Teamtalk reports.
Don Balon reports that the player will be granted the return to Old Trafford he craves with a fee of £75million being suggested.
This comes as United boss Jose Mourinho is scouring the market for a wide forward, a role that Ronaldo revelled in during their time together at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for United before completing a then world record switch to Real for £80million, and remains a favourite among the fans.
Madrid, meanwhile, are set to plug the goalscoring gap left by Ronaldo by making a £77million bid for Sergio Aguero, who is understood to be ready to quit City after becoming their all-time record goalscorer.
