
Royal College Defence Studies Visits Western Naval Command On Study Tour
On Thursday 15 May 2025, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command (FOC WEST), Rear Admiral MG Oamen received the British Royal College of Defence Studies (BRCDS) team led by Rear Admiral Steve Dainton at Headquarters Western Naval Command, Apapa, Lagos. The visit formed part of the academic curriculum and study tour program designed for participants of the BRCDS. The tour was to provide a comprehensive overview of the Western Naval Command’s history, organizational structure and key achievements, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Command Operations Officer (COO), Commodore A Mohammed delivered a detailed presentation on the operational activities and strategic responsibilities of the Western Naval Command at the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT Officers’ Mess. The brief offered valuable insights into the Command’s role in securing Nigeria’s deep blue maritime domain in the Gulf of Guinea.
In his remarks, the FOC WEST welcomed the team and he emphasized the Western Naval Command’s significant contribution to the growth of the national economy through enhanced maritime security and strategic operations.
