Senator Bala Mohammed Commends Nigerian Army On Improved Security In Bauchi State
The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON) has commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies on the level of peace being enjoyed in state. The Governor gave the commendation while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour during the year 2024 West African Social Activities (WASA) held at the 33 Artillery Brigade Parade Ground, Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi. Represented by his Chief Security Adviser, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Ahmed Abdulrahman mni, the Governor pledged to continue partnering with all security agencies to protect the lives and properties of citizens in Bauchi State. According to him, the state government has been supportive to the Army and other security Agencies on necessary logistics to enable them discharge their constitutional mandate effectively, hence the improved security in Bauchi State.
The representative of the Special Guest of Honour said the barracks community is like the bigger Nigerian society, comprises of people with diverse social and cultural backgrounds hence the need for the annual socio-cultural activities that will no doubt help in consolidating the existing good relationship among the various cultural groups cohabiting in the barracks, and by extension. He described the existing relationship between the army and the people of Bauchi as very cordial, assuring that the present administration will continue to work harmoniously in partnership with the Nigerian Army to ensure peace and security in Bauchi.
He congratulated the Commander 33 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Emmanuel Egbe as well as officers and men of the Brigade for organizing the event for families, friends and well-wishers, saying the cultural display shows that the Army personnel have not broken the links with their cultural background. He also congratulated the soldiers who were awarded for distinguished themselves by achieving operational excellence in the preceding year, encouraged others to do more in the current year for similar recognition. He further commended troops of the Brigade, for their discipline and dedication to duty during the year 2024. The representative of the Special Guest of Honour expressed hope that the Army and other arms of the military will maintain the posture for the development of the state and the nation generally.
In his welcome address, the Commander 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Brigadier General Emmanuel Egbe, said the event serves as platform for relaxation after rigorous year of military training operations and engagements. He charged officers and soldiers of the Brigade to remain steadfast in performing their constitutional roles. He expressed appreciation to the Governor for honouring the invitation and for the support the Army and other security agencies receive from the state government in the past two years of his command.
He assured that the Brigade will continue to work assiduously in collaboration with other sister security agencies to address emerging challenges of insecurity in Bauchi State. The Commander appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for the privilege to command the Brigade and for approving necessary funds for the WASA among others. He urged the soldiers to align with the COAS Command Philosophy “To consolidate the transformation of the Nigerian Army towards bequeathing a well-motivated and combat-ready force that can effectively discharge it’s constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment”.
The Commander also thanked the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operations Safe Haven, Maj General Abdulsalam Abubakar for his guidance and direction through the period of his command.
The event features cultural performances from the Igbo, Sayawa, Yoruba, Hausa/Fulani, Tiv, Jarawa as well as drama. There was also tug of war contest between Youth Corps members and Barrack Women in Shadawanka Barracks and another one between soldiers of 33 Artillery Brigade and Airmen of the Nigerian Air Force. Highlights of the event were the presentation of awards to some deserving Personnel for their exceptional performances, souvenirs to invited Guests and lighting of the bonfire by the representative of the Special Guest of Honour which climax the event amongst others.
