The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Office on July 11, 2018 took its enlightenment and sensitization campaign on the evil of corruption and its consequences on the society to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

Williams Oseghale, Head, Public Affairs Directorate, Benin Zonal Office who represented the Zonal Head, Mailafia Yakubu urged the students to shun economic and financial crimes and other forms of criminality.

He stated that the acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu was interested in seeing the youths own the fight against corruption as the future leaders of our great country.

“The future of Nigeria is in your hands. What you choose to do today will go a long way in determining what Nigeria will be in the near future”, he said.

He further stated that corruption was the bane of our development and that we must collectively join hands to exterminate the rampaging monster. “The EFCC cannot defeat corruption alone. We need you as students to enlist in the fight by upholding integrity, transparency in whatever you do and by actively participating in the fight against corruption.”

According to him, the Commission embarks on sensitization and enlightenment campaign to change the mindset of young people who out of inordinate ambition may want to engage in internet fraud, yahoo-yahoo, and other forms of economic and financial crimes for quick benefit.

“The law is no respecter of person. So I advise you to shun such despicable act of criminality because the consequences are always grivious. Say no to internet fraud, say no to yahoo and other economic crimes”, he stated.
