Amaju Pinnick, the Nigeria Football Federation president has expressed confidence on Super Eagles ahead of the AFCON 2017 return leg tie against Egypt. Speaking through Harry Awurimbe, his special adviser on women football, at the wedding ceremony of Super Falcons assistant coach Perpetua Nkwocha in Owerri on Monday, March 28, the NFF president said the Super Eagles will surprise a lot of people in Egypt.
The statement reads: “I expect the Super Eagles to go and win right there at Alexandria, Egypt. It is not impossible because to a large extent our team is made up of foreign players. Egypt has the same climate condition with that our foreign players are familiar with. My mind is telling me that Nigeria is going to surprise so many people.
“A team performs better when you write them off and the whole world may have written the Super Eagles off but I’m one optimistic person that believes in possibilities.”
When asked what would be the fate of Coach Siasia if the Super Eagles don’t get to qualify for the AFCON 2017, the NFF representative said: “Siasia knows he is an interim coach of the Super Eagles. He has team which is the U-23 Dream Team and whatever happens, he’s going back to the U-23.
However, he is on a rescue mission and I don’t want to believe that the Super Eagles won’t make it to Gabon 2017, they will make it.” Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Harry Awurimbe, Amaju Pinnick’s special adviser on women football.
