Staff and Students Of Army School Enjoined To Always Conduct Themselves In Professional Manner While Interacting With The Civil Populace

At the Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs Sensitization Workshop organised for staff and students of Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI), which held at Ihejirika Auditorium, Jaji Cantonment on 10 Feb 24, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA), Major General NC Ugbo during his Opening Remarks enjoined all participants at the workshop to conduct themselves in a professional manner while interacting with the civil populace. The CCMA further reminded all staff and students that, the Nigerian Army is currently involved in a number of internal security operations across the country and stressed the need for all personnel to operate in line with the prescribed code of conduct and international best practices, while discharging their constitutional responsibilities. He emphasised that the Nigerian Army requires all its personnel to respect and adhere to the fundamental human rights of the civil populace at all times.

The Deputy Commandant, NASI, Brigadier General AA Bello, during his welcome address thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja for granting approval for the conduct of the Sensitization Workshop for staff and students of NASI. He noted that the workshop will indeed reawaken the consciousness of personnel to be more professional and eschew conduct that can be considered human rights violations and abuses.

The staff and students of NASI listened to a lecture on the ‘’Proper Conduct of the Nigerian Soldier within the Larger Nigerian Society’’ delivered by Major II Nibras. The lecture dwelled significantly on the Establishment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Roles of the Nigerian Army, Fundamental Human Rights under the 1999 Constitution as amended, the Nigerian Army Social Media Policy, Establishment of the Civil-Military Legal Desk and the Nigerian Army Information and Call Centre. At the end of the lecture, an interactive session gave all the participants an opportunity to ask questions and clear their doubts on pertinent issues highlighted during the lecture.

The highlight of the workshop was the presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
