‘Stay Away from me Right Now’ – Steve Harvey Opens up About Chat with Bill Cosby
It’s no news that comedian Bill Cosby became perhaps the most toxic man in the United States following multiple sexual assault and grooming charges.
The one-time America’s favourite dad’s fall from grace was so severe that mere association with him came with some form of backlash.
Despite his present travails, fellow stand-up comedian, Steve Harvey still has a soft spot for him.
According to Harvey, Cosby, 80, did a lot to help him in the entertainment business during his early days and help his sons at Morehouse College and there’s no way he was going to demonise him in spite of the damning charges.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harvey, 60, revealed something Bill Cosby told him when news broke of his sexual assault case.
When asked if he still talks to Cosby, Harvey said: “I haven’t talked to him in a few months, but when I’m your friend, I’m your friend.
“And Bill Cosby helped my sons at Morehouse [College], and he taught me how to do this business. He didn’t even know me and he taught me how to do this business.
“When I heard all the trouble he was in, I called and asked him how he was doing. You know what he says to me? ‘Hey man, I appreciate you calling, but just stay away from me right now. You don’t need none of this on you. You’re doing good. Whatever happens to me, happens to me, but don’t you get none of this on you.’”
“That’s an amazing thing for a guy to say.”
Cosby is headed for a retrial in November after a mistrial was declared in June following the inability of the jury to reach a decision.
So, don’t be too shocked to see Harvey in court…
