Super Falcons star Oshoala Donates Football Kits to Grassroot Team
Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala is a perfect example of the saying that charity begins at home.
Oshoala, who earlier in the year completed a dream move from Liverpool to Arsenal Ladies in the English Women Super League, recently visited her grassroots Academy side, FC Robo in Mushin. And she showered them with football kits and gifts as a gesture of her appreciation of their role in her rise to global stardom.
The Super Falcons attacker also paid a visit to less privilege homes and schools in Lagos where she bestowed them with similar largesse.
Children at these centres were clearly delighted to see their idol in the flesh as she posed for group photographs with them, Flexygist writes.
Oshoala, 21, burst to the limelight during the U21 Fifa Women World Cup in 2014 where she won the top scorer and most valuable player (MVP) awards as Nigeria won silver.
She has since helped the senior national side, the Super Falcons to their seventh Africa Women Championship in 2015 after she was named African Female Footballer of the year.
In 2015, the former Rivers Angel striker made history by becoming the first player to win the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year Award.
Oshoala’s Arsenal ladies are presently third in the English Super League standings, trailing Manchester City and Chelsea ladies.
