Toya Wright Grants First Interview After Brothers’ Horrific Death
Toya Wright has granted her first interview since the brutal murder of her brothers on July 31.
The New York bestselling author recalled the moment she heard the news of her brothers’ deaths while working a gig in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
“I got a call from my sister-in-law and she was like, ‘Your brothers just got shot.”
“The music was loud and I’m [thinking], this can’t be real,” she said in her interview with People.
She immediately began calling her relatives after she was done speaking with her sister-in-law.
When they refused to pick up, she knew the worst had happened.|
“I guess they didn’t want to tell me what was really going on.”
She eventually got a hold of her sister-in-law again, who told Wright that her brothers were still inside the car, the crime scene was cordoned off and no one was allowed near the vehicle.
“When she said that,” Wright explains, “I just knew.”
“It was the worst news ever,” she said.
“Murders happen every day and this is another dark night in New Orleans. You hear about stories like this all the time, but it doesn’t really hit you until you get that call.
“It hits so close to home,” Lil Wayne’s ex-wife detailed the fateful experience that broke her heart to smithereens.
The entrepreneur and former TV host has a network of friends who have been on hand to help her get through this difficult time.

Toya Wright’s brothers; Ryan “Rudy” Johnson, 24, and Joshua “Fish” Johnson, 31, were found murdered inside a car in New Orleans’ seventh ward on July 31, according to police.
They had been shot to death.
“We have not publicly identified a suspect or suspects in the case at this time,” police spokesman, Tyler Gamble said while giving an update on the case.
“The investigation is ongoing.”
Toya Wright is set to release a memoir titled In My Own Words, next moth.
She recently filed for divorce from her husband Memphitz whom she appears with on WeTV’s Marriage Boot Camp.
