Training, Best Welfare and Path To Professionalism – Army

Training has been described as the best welfare and path to professionalism. The Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army) (CAB “A”) Major General Adetokumbo Fayemiwo stated this as he declared the 6 Division Finance and Accounts Training week 2023 open.

The training which has as it’s theme *”Enhancing the capacity of 6 Division Finance Personnel to be proactive and proficient in Delivering Financial Services”*.

The CAB A further disclosed that on assumption of duty as Chief of Accounts and Budget, he crafted a mission statement which’s attainment is anchored on sound training. He added that in addition to being the path way to professionalism, “training makes us proficient in our duties as soldiers, reduces casualties during war and minimizes wastage of scarce resources”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, (JTF) South-South Operation Delta Safe ( OPDS), Major General Jamal Abdussalam noted the antecedent of the CAB “A” as a leader and lover of training. He recalled dynamic changes the CAB “A” introduced at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College which improved training. Staying true to his stock, the GOC called to mind the instrumental role the CAB “A” played in the introduction of career courses and exams for Direct Regular Course officers.

Noting that training remains the key to unlocking the potentials of personnel, the GOC stated that it equally is the route to achieving the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya which is to have “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam noted with satisfaction the commendation of the Bureau of Army Financial Management and Audit to personnel of 6 Division Finance and Accounts, he charged them not to relent on their oars as the Division maintains zero tolerance for illegalities; rather, they’re to maintain proactive result oriented, leading to sustainable operational tempo.
