Twitter Explodes as Power Outage Shuts Down the 2016 AMAA Ceremony

The 2016 Africa Movie Academy Awards ceremony is always Africa’s biggest movie night, but the ceremony many times is trailed by poor planning.

Yesterday, a source revealed that the hosts had no time to prepare for the big night; they had no scripts and so resolved to freestyle, while hoping that they don’t ruin the night.

And that’s not all the drama this year’s event came with.

Last night, midway through the event held at the Dr Obi Walk Event Centre in Port Harcourt, power was out for over 20 minutes and it was unclear why the organisers took so long to switch over to an alternative source.

As expected, Nigerians took to social media to criticise the ceremony, and the comments are real messy.
