Uphold Integrity and Transparency, Magu Charges Students

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has again called on youths and students to shun internet fraud and other forms of economic and financial crimes.
Magu gave this charge on February 4, 2019 during a sensitization and enlightenment campaign on the ills of corruption and its consequences on the larger society at OgorTech College, Ughelli and Hussey College, Warri, Delta State.

Represented by Williams Oseghale, Head, Public Affairs Department, Benin Zonal Office, Magu stated that corruption was the bane of Nigeria’s development.
He urged the students to be diligent and hardworking as there was no shortcut to success.

He said: “As young people, know it that there is no shortcut to success. You need to embrace hardwork. You need to be disciplined, uphold integrity, transparency and accountability. These are some of the qualities you need to make Nigeria a better place.”
He further stated that they should see themselves as future leaders, and so should take ownership of the fight against corruption.

He said: “The future of Nigeria is in your hands. So we want you to enlist as anti-corruption crusaders by joining Integrity Club. We want you to become a voice against corruption wherever you find yourselves.”
He added that the EFCC had upped the ante in the fight against corruption in the country.

“In 2018, the EFCC secured 312 convictions and we will continue to go after fraudsters,” he said, and urged them to shun every despicable act of criminality because “we will get those involved anywhere and anytime. So say no to internet fraud, say no to yahoo-yahoo.”
